Colony Worlds

Colony Worlds

The colony worlds are a unique study in the resourcefulness of humanity. After the colonies separated from their parent nations on new Earth, and even more so after they were left to fend for themselves after the Collapse, the Colonial Congress took major action. Instead of allowing some colony worlds to flounder and die, the delegates came to the conclusion that sharing resources was the only way they would all survive. So each world offered up what they had in the way of resources, be it physical or figurative, and shared amongst each other. This left every colony world on the same footing in all social and technological sciences. All colony worlds share the following statistics:

Civilization Traits of the Colony Worlds
Space Sciences: Manned Interstellar Probes, Planetary Colonization, Subspace Radios
Engineering Sciences Advanced Microcircuits, Scram Jets, Magnelev Rails, Domed Habitats
Biological Sciences: Bacteriology, Immunology, Hybridization, Basic Hydroponics, Microsurgery
Physical Sciences: Subspace Radio Theory, Advanced Catalyst Chemistry
Planetary Sciences: Geothermal Energy, Artificial Higher Elements
Psionics Sciences: Rudimentary Education Given To Gifted
Magical Sciences: Rudimentary Education Given To Gifted
Social Sciences: Large scale social planning
Cultural Organization: Participatory Structure
Cultural Attitude: Dominating for controlled peace

While all colonies are considered under the rule of the Colonial Congress, they are still given a lot of leeway in how they choose to enforce the communal laws. Each colony world has it's own separate local government to handle the day-to-day governing, with the Colonial Congress enforcing the major issues. Likewise, even though the official language of the colony worlds is Colonial, each colony tends to have an alternate "official" language, spoken by the founding nation. Even these alternate languages are not identical to their counterparts on New Earth, with new dialects rising from colonial variations.

All planets are graded on how they compare with New Earth. PLANET SIZE is how many times bigger than standard the planet is. GRAVITY is how many times higher the gravity is from standard (with a rating of 1 being the same as New Earth's gravity). COLOR is the color of the planet from space. ATMOSPHERE DENSITY is the rating for how dense the planet's atmosphere, and therefore how difficult such things as breathing and aerial travel would be (given as a percentage with 50% being standard). AIR CONDITION is a description of how active, on average, the planet's winds are. SEISMIC ACTIVITY is a general description of how seismically volatile the planet is, and how prone to earthquakes. ENERGY is the ratio of the temperature of the core, amount of "fuels" present, and general warmth in comparison with the non-energy producing aspects of the planet (with a 50% being average). GROUND/WATER is the percentage of the planet that is covered by land and water. VEGETATION/LIFE is the percentage of the planet supporting plant and animal life (respectively). DAY LENGTH is how many hours for the planet to make a complete revolution, using a standard New Earth hour. YEAR LENGTH is how many local days the planet takes to orbit any sun or suns it is orbiting. MOONS lists the number and names of the planet's moons, if any.
