The Solar System

Space, in and of itself, is an interesting place. With countless worlds, intelligent species, non-sentient lifeforms, and who knows what else adventure can be found anywhere. Even within the Icominic system itself, there is a great deal worth seeing. The Icominic system contains two suns and forteen planets.

The primary sun of the Icominic System is named, obviously enough, Icominic. This sun is similar to Terra's own sun, Sol. It is a yellow star, in its prime. The second sun, named Varagnos, is a much hotter sun. Varagnos is classified as an orange star, just barely able to sustain life. Because of the unique nature of the dual suns, many planets go through a very harsh season when their orbits take them closer to Varagnos. Some of the planets also have unusual orbits, more elliptical than normal, bringing them close enough to the second sun as to make life nearly impossible.

The Planets

All planets are graded on how they compare with New Earth. PLANET SIZE is how many times bigger than standard the planet is. GRAVITY is how many times higher the gravity is from standard (with a rating of 1 being the same as New Earth's gravity). COLOR is the color of the planet from space. ATMOSPHERE DENSITY is the rating for how dense the planet's atmosphere, and therefore how difficult such things as breathing and aerial travel would be (given as a percentage with 50% being standard). AIR CONDITION is a description of how active, on average, the planet's winds are. SEISMIC ACTIVITY is a general description of how seismically volatile the planet is, and how prone to earthquakes. ENERGY is the ratio of the temperature of the core, amount of "fuels" present, and general warmth in comparison with the non-energy producing aspects of the planet (with a 50% being average). GROUND/WATER is the percentage of the planet that is covered by land and water. VEGETATION/LIFE is the percentage of the planet supporting plant and animal life (respectively). DAY LENGTH is how many hours for the planet to make a complete revolution, using a standard New Earth hour. YEAR LENGTH is how many local days the planet takes to orbit any sun or suns it is orbiting. MOONS lists the number and names of the planet's moons, if any.


The closest planet to the suns, Jaguwar is one that has yet to be colonized. What is interesting is that, in explorations, it appears Jaguwar was once inhabited. The planet has been terraformed, making it mirror New Earth's atmosphere and hydrosphere in many ways. In all ways, it is actually a habitable planet. It is only the lack of knowledge as to how the planet remains as such, why it was terraformed, and fear that it may not last, that have kept colonists away.

The second planet from the suns. As would be expected from a planetoid this close to a dual sun, the planet is all but devoid of life. All that lives on this planet are the most hardy of vegetation and select bacterial species. Even this limited life is only able to survive a short 40 day cycle before being scorched to ashes by the intense heat.

This planet, the third from the suns, is named for the dominant sun in the system. Icominic is a lush planet, teeming with vegetation. One of the many worlds to have been colonized in the last century, it is one of the few colony worlds to remain loyal to its founding nations. The colonies on Icominic were set up by Glorious Brotherhood, Yntir, Vora, Kenam, Bryant, Isles of Hexane, Fummo, Ewlet, Corech, Aniria, and Dir'Akul.

The fourth planet from the suns. Michie is primarily a mining world. This planet has one of the highest caches of metals in the solar system. The unlivable atmosphere makes it less work to mine the world than to attempt to terraform and colonize. Michie exports nearly 80% of all crude metals used on New Earth.

Fifth planet from the suns, Eden is an enigma. While it seems to be quite habitable, and by all means should be. However, none of the many attempts to colonize the planet have met with success. Every single colonist to be sent to this planet has disappeared within a month, leaving nothing but their homes and equipment behind. There are no clues as to what happens to those who disappear, and remains have yet to be found. Currently, all attempts to colonize the planet have been put on hold until the mystery can be solved.

Edo is the seventh planet from the suns. This planet is best described as a gas giant. The majority of the planet is in actuality a noxious vapor of gasses and chemicals. There are a few floating "islands" of ground, mostly made up of massive collections of dust particles and ice. The volatile nature of the planet's components makes for very violent storms. Coupled with the caustic nature of the atmosphere, this has left the planet relatively untouched.

The eighth planet from the suns. Hatu is a planet with a unique orbit, giving it unpredictable weather patterns and an unnaturally long winter season. Much of the planet is covered in massive glaciers for most of the year, and flooded during the hot season. Many explorations of the planet have been lost to the bitter cold and the flash floods.

Ninth planet from the suns. Aldera is one of two artificial planets in the system. One of the biggest mysteries of the Icominic system is who created the artificial planets, and why. Aldera, for all intents and purposes, appears to be a normal terrestrial planet. However, seventeen miles beneath the planet's surface, there is a layer of refined metal. Scattered around the globe are caves that lead beneath this metal shell, and into an elaborate computer system that seems to be running the planet. The computers themselves have managed to baffle conventional wisdom, and have yet to reveal how this planet and its sister Glor came to be.

The tenth planet from the suns. Purgatos is probably the single most dangerous planet in the universe. Its strange orbit means that it passes closest to Varagnos, and stays there for longer, than any of the other planets in the system. As a result, this planet tends to have violent and unpredictable weather. On top of this is the fact that the planet is seismically unstable, and have a much higher gravity rate than New Earth. A few misguided attempts have been made to colonize this planet, but none have managed to succeed.

Ga Belt

The eleventh "planet" from the suns. Not actually a planet, this is in fact an asteroid belt. For the most part, this is an uninhabitable region. Many of the asteroids have hollow interiors, allowing for pockets of limited atmosphere and vegetation. The most unusual aspect of the belt, however, is the mutagenic goo that seems to originate there. Scientists have yet to determine how this slime forms, and why it is only found in this one place. What is known about it is that this goo has the ability to alter the genetic structure of living tissues, not always beneficially. As a result, much of the life and vegetation found among the asteroid's inner realms is twisted and unusual.

Twelfth planet from the suns. L'Ed is an oceanic planet with scattered islands. Attempts have been made to colonize this planet, but few have succeeded. The only truly successful colony has been the large number of dolphi who have come here to start a new life. Much like many new nations on Terra were formed, the communities on L'Ed have formed out of the outcasts from their home nations. The dolphi here have all been forced to start a new life for one reason or another, and they seem to be doing a fine job of it.

The thirteenth planet from the suns. Sa'aw is the only other colony world within the Icominic system, and the only other colony world to remain loyal to its founding nations. Sa'aw is in many ways a mirror of New Earth, while still holing its own unique charm. The nations with colonies here are Corvus, Pasia, and Shodan.

The furthest planet from the suns, Glor is also the second artificial planet in the system. Theorized to have been created by the same people who made Aldera, the two planets couldn't be more different. Where Aldera seems to be an attempt to create an artificial, but believably real, world…Glor seems to be an attempt to break the laws of nature. This planet contains "natural" regions that defy logic. Oceans of iodine, seas of ammonia, crystal caves, glass forests, and silicon plains are a few of the more unusual features of this experimental planet.
